1. Overview
Document Scanner: Scan PDF OCR ("the App") is a document scanning, OCR, PDF creation, translation, and document-management application.
We believe your documents should remain yours. The App is designed so that scanning, text recognition, document editing, translation, and PDF creation can be performed on your device.
Privacy-first design
The App does not require an account and is designed to process documents locally on your device.
2. Information We Handle
The App is designed to minimize the information that leaves your device. You can use the core scanning features without creating an account or providing an email address.
Information stored on your device
- Scanned images and photographs.
- PDF, JPEG, and text documents created in the App.
- OCR text extracted from your documents.
- Document names, categories, tags, notes, and favourites.
- App preferences and settings.
- Information required to provide biometric app locking.
This information is used to provide the features you request, including scanning, editing, OCR, searching, organizing, translating, exporting, and protecting your documents.
3. Your Documents
Your scans and documents are stored in the App's private storage on your device. We do not sell, rent, or use the contents of your documents for advertising.
Document editing is designed to be non-destructive. Where supported by the App, your original image is preserved while edits are applied to a separate version.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of documents that are important to you. If you delete the App, clear its storage, or lose your device, locally stored documents may no longer be recoverable unless you have created a backup.
4. OCR and Translation
The App may process images to recognize text, detect document information, create searchable PDFs, and provide translation features.
Where these features are available as on-device processing, the relevant image and text data are processed locally on your device rather than being uploaded to our servers.
OCR results may include information visible in a document, such as names, dates, amounts, email addresses, telephone numbers, URLs, or other text. You should only scan documents that you are authorized to process.
5. Device Permissions
Depending on the features you use, the App may request access to certain device capabilities.
- Camera: Used to capture documents and other images for scanning.
- Photos / Files: Used to import existing images and save or export documents.
- Biometric authentication: Used when you enable biometric protection for the App or private vault.
You can manage these permissions through your device's operating system settings. Some App features may not work if the required permission is denied.
7. Advertising, Analytics and Tracking
The App is intended to operate without advertising banners, interstitial advertisements, or rewarded advertising.
The App does not intentionally use third-party advertising trackers to build advertising profiles from your activity.
We also do not require you to register for an account to use the App's core features.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App. Documents can be protected using the App's private vault and biometric app-lock features where supported.
If encrypted backup and restore is provided by your version of the App, backup data is protected using the security mechanisms implemented by that feature.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should also use the security controls provided by your device, including a strong device passcode or equivalent protection.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Documents and related information stored locally in the App remain on your device until you delete them, remove the App's data, or uninstall the App, subject to your device's operating system behavior.
Because the App is designed around local processing, we generally do not maintain a central copy of your scanned documents.
If you have exported or shared a document with another application or service, deletion from this App does not delete copies held by those third parties.
10. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising or account-profiling purposes.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
11. Third-Party Services
The App may interact with operating-system services or applications that you explicitly choose to use, such as the system camera, file picker, print service, or share sheet.
Those services operate independently from the App and may collect or process information according to their own policies. We recommend reviewing the privacy practices of any third-party service you use to store, send, print, or otherwise process your documents.
12. International Use
The App may be used in different countries and regions. Because the App is designed to perform core document processing locally, your documents do not need to be transferred to us simply to use scanning, OCR, editing, or PDF features.
If you choose to share information with another service, that service may process the information in a different country.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, applicable law, or our privacy practices.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the beginning of this policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
